ChatGPT Has Google ‘worried’ About Its Business, Here’s Why?

Google is not merely a search engine nowadays, it has become people’s primary interface to internet but ‘the most popular search engine’  is worried as AI takes over the world, hence, it has purportedly issued a “red code” over ChatGPT, according to a report by The New York Times.

25 years ago, google appeared as a huge competitor for then used search engines, took away a big chunk of users from search engines like Yahoo, AOL,Bing, internet Explorer, and more, as these could keep up with the smarts of Google search.

All was fine for Google, until  four months ago, when an AI research company, unveiled ChatGPT to the world as “an experiment”. Since then, it has been a cut-throat competitor for Google.

Not only ChatGPT but also DALL-E, yet again an OpenAI product, which can render images based on text prompts, and results have left the world perplexed and astonished. So, it has been argued that why would someone even search anything on Google and then sail in the ocean of links to find answer if  they can just chat with AI and have the answers in a jiffy.

Amidst such competition, Google has released it’s chatbot LaMDA though it has been too late to get them to the public, but it gained a lot of attention, primarily because a Google engineer called it sentient.

“ChatGPT or for that reason any other AI chatbot cannot scrap the internet for answers. Though it does a great job but it is not factually accurate everytime you summon it, and if you are doing so, it is not a good idea” – Sam Altaman, CEO of OpenAI

So, no, AI chatbots cannot replace a search engine, at least not for a while. It is hard to say what future holds, but Google has been actively working to enhance its search engine using the same technology underlies beneath LaMDA, ChatGPT, and other AI chatbots.
